Faculty Development Survey
Posted by anniqua on Wednesday, November 4th 2009
The RP Group, as one of the sponsors of the Strengthening Student Success
conference, and the Student Success Regional Networks established by the BSI
professional development grant, are interested in initiatives currently
happening in some California Community Colleges that involve credit courses
for faculty seeking to deepen their knowledge of teaching and learning.
At the 2009 Strengthening Student Success Conference, we heard presentations
from a few colleges/districts that are providing credit courses that faculty
can take to advance their knowledge of teaching and learning. (Credit
courses can be an incentive for faculty development as they can be used to
advance on salary schedules.) We are interested in knowing how many other
colleges may be doing this, or considering doing this. Please take a minute
to let us know using this simple, seven question survey:

Please submit this survey by November 13. Results will be posted for your
information. Thank you for your time!

Posted by anniqua on Monday, November 2nd 2009
Apply Now! Digital Bridge Academy’s Winter Faculty Experiential Learning Institute
Applications are now available for the Digital Bridge Academy (DBA) Winter Faculty Experiential Learning Institute (FELI), held January 11-17, 2010 at Cabrillo College, Aptos, CA.
The Faculty Experiential Learning Institute (FELI) is a condensed version of the two-week Foundation Course that begins the DBA semester. The intent of the institute is for faculty to learn about the dynamics and processes that emerge amongst students in the Foundation Course classroom. Also, many who complete the FELI report applying techniques they learned here in their classrooms and lives with excellent results.
You will be exposed to core DBA curriculum and exercises that include identifying the learning and communication styles of self and others, as well as listening, communication, and reflection techniques. Woven into the workshops are faculty-specific discussions about teaching and learning.
More information can be found at the FELI website. http://www.cabrillo.edu/academics/digitalbridge/FELI.html
Application deadline is November 6, 2009.
Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you at the FELI.

Get your students to engage and organize using technology like cell phones and flip cameras. In this workshop, you will collaborate with your colleagues to create a site similar to one you can use in the classroom. After a brief demonstration of free on-line resources like www.box.net, http://www.google.com/intl/en/options/, www.jing.com, www.polleverywhere.com, www.youtube.com, you will create your own site and identify ways to use these resources in your classroom.
